Training on Intellectual Property Rights and Enforcement in Nigeria
On 23 October 2018, IPLAN organized a training program for young lawyers themed “Intellectual Property Rights and Enforcement in Nigeria”. The following topics were discussed at the training: Copyright Protection and Exploitation, Convergence of Trademarks and E-commerce, Enforcement of Registered and Unregistered Trademark Rights and Analysis of the Patent System: Current and Emerging Issues, and Enforcement of Patents and Designs.
Training on Copyright in Nigeria
On 3 October 2019, IPLAN organized a training program for young lawyers on copyright in Nigeria. The following topics were discussed at the training: Subject matter of copyright, ownership, transmission and licensing, administration and control of copyright, copyright and technology.
2 Day Training on Copyright in Nigeria
On 17 and 18 September, 2020, IPLAN will organize a two-day training program for young lawyers on copyright in Nigeria. The following topics will be discussed at the training: General Overview of Copyright and Related Rights, Transfer of Rights: Assignment and Licenses, Establishment, operations and regulations of Collective Management Organizations and Copyright and New Technology.
Judges Retreat
At the joint round table organized by the Nigerian Copyright Commission and IPLAN, on 7 February 2019 to analyze the pronouncements of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on collective management of copyright, it was resolved that periodic training programs for members of the Bench are required. In collaboration with the Nigerian Copyright Commission, IPLAN is looking to organize a retreat for judges in Nigeria on copyright and other aspects of intellectual property.
